Ask a seasoned backpacker what the ideal hiking boot looks like, and you're bound to hear a description of the Mountain Light. That's because for more than 40 years, the Mountain Light set the standard for every new product that hit the market. And in all that time, nothing ever dethroned the original. Today, we're proud to re-introduce this boot. They're built by hand in Portland, Oregon, with premium suede leather, a Vibram Kletterlift outsole and waterproof GORE-TEX liners. The result is a classic design that provides unmatched comfort and support.

Inspired by Danner's original Airthotic instep cup, the new updated Ortholite® Airthotic features the same support as the original but with long-lasting Ortholite® cushion. Machine washable and antimicrobial.

Specifically designed for comfort and durability; the heel provides superb shock absorption and the rubber compound guarantees great traction and stability on both wet and dry surfaces.
Stitchdown Construction
Handcrafted to provide a wider platform, our legendary stitchdown construction offers increased stability underfoot. Many of our stitchdown boots can be recrafted.
How It Fits
This EE width is designed to fit an average width foot, similar to a D width. The 650 EE last offers a more relaxed fit for casual, everyday wear while still offering support and stability. Since this style runs a little long, we recommend sizing down a half size for the best fit.

How to Measure Your Foot

  1. Prepare: Place a sheet of paper on a hard floor against a wall. Wear the socks you plan to wear with the boots.
  2. Trace: Stand with your heel against the wall and your full weight on the foot. Mark the longest toe on the paper.
  3. Measure: Measure the distance from the wall to the mark in inches or centimetres.
  4. Repeat: Measure both feet and use the larger measurement to pick your size from the charts above.
  5. Fit tip: If you are between sizes, choose the larger size for a thicker sock or insole.
